About this tender

Axopar 37 Spyder - what we know.

The Axopar 37 Spyder is the open variant of the 37 platform - no hardtop, no fixed roof structure, just a clean deck plan that puts every passenger in contact with the water and the sky. Within the 37 range it sits alongside the Sun Top and the XC Cross Cabin, and it is the one we point owners toward when the brief is maximum open-air experience rather than all-weather shelter. The Finnish yard's deep-V GRP hull carries across unchanged, which means the same sea-keeping geometry underpins all three body styles.

For mothership programmes the Spyder format has a practical dimension: the lower air-draught and the absence of a hardtop frame simplifies davit handling and reduces windage on deck. Axopar has built its reputation on a consistent build standard across the range - vacuum-infused GRP construction, a structured inner liner, and a broad engine compatibility list that runs from mid-range single outboards up to twin high-output units. The 37 Spyder inherits all of that without modification.

We would place the 37 Spyder in conversations about open tenders and day-use chase support for owners whose programme extends to protected coastal and island archipelago passages. It is not a passage-maker - the open cockpit is honest about that - but within its intended envelope it is a well-resolved platform from a yard that has delivered consistently since launching the original 28 in 2014.

Highlights

Built for the work.

The four details we'd point out first to a captain who hasn't seen one on the water yet.

01

Open cockpit, clean deck plan

The Spyder removes the fixed roof structure present on the Sun Top and XC Cross Cabin variants, producing a lower air-draught profile that is easier to handle under a davit and creates a genuinely open social space on deck. There is no compromise to the underlying hull geometry.

02

Proven deep-V GRP hull

The 37 platform uses vacuum-infused GRP construction with a structured inner liner, consistent across all body styles. The deep-V entry provides progressive sea-keeping behaviour rather than the abrupt hobby-horsing that affects flatter-bottomed open boats of similar length.

03

Broad outboard compatibility

Axopar specifies a wide engine compatibility window on the 37, covering single and twin outboard configurations from several manufacturers. This gives buyers flexibility on power budget and keeps future re-powering options open, which matters when the boat is likely to change hands with a superyacht.

04

Compact footprint for davit deployment

At approximately 11.0 metres overall the 37 sits within the handling envelope of most mid-size yacht davit systems. The open Spyder body style reduces windage relative to the topped variants, which translates directly into more predictable recovery in a swell.

Questions, answered

Before you enquire.

How does the 37 Spyder differ from the 37 Sun Top and 37 XC Cross Cabin?
The Spyder removes the fixed roof structure entirely, leaving a fully open cockpit. The Sun Top adds a rigid sunroof panel for partial shade, while the XC Cross Cabin provides a forward enclosed cabin with berth. The underlying hull and construction are identical across all three variants.
Is the Axopar 37 Spyder suitable for davit deployment from a superyacht?
At approximately 11.0 metres overall and with no hardtop structure to catch wind, the Spyder is easier to handle under a davit than the topped variants. Confirm exact dry weight with Axopar or your dealer before specifying a davit system, as engine choice affects the loaded figure.
What outboard engine options are available for the 37 Spyder?
Axopar offers a range of outboard options across single and twin configurations. Specific engine brands, horsepower ratings, and the maximum power rating should be confirmed with an authorised Axopar dealer, as the option list can vary by market and model year.
What CE category is the 37 Spyder certified to?
The specific CE category - which defines the sea state and wind conditions the boat is designed for - is confirmed at the point of sale and may vary with engine and equipment specification. Ask your dealer for the homologation document before committing to a purchase.
How does the open Spyder body style affect range and fuel capacity?
The Spyder hull carries the same fuel tankage as the rest of the 37 platform. The source page does not publish a specific capacity figure; we recommend requesting the full Axopar 37 specification sheet from your dealer to confirm fuel volume and projected range at cruise speed.

Axopar

Helsinki, Finland

Axopar is a Finnish boat brand founded in 2014 by Jan-Erik Viitala and Sakari Mattila, whose combined pedigree spans Aquador, XO Boats, and Paragon - the source of the Axopar name. Headquarters sit in Helsinki, with a creative and innovation base in Vaasa and production running across two plants in Poland. The range covers 22 ft through to 45 ft (13.91m), built entirely around outboard propulsion, twin-stepped deep-V hulls, and a modular deck philosophy that lets your programme configure the same platform across open, T-Top, Sun Top, Cross Top, and Cross Cabin layouts without re-engineering the hull.

In the superyacht tender and chase-boat segment, the 37 and 45 are the builds we are asked about most. The 45 XC Cross Cabin carries 16 guests at coastal certification, runs triple Mercury V8 300 Verado outboards producing 900 hp from the factory, and is rated to up to 50 knots; for model year 2026 Axopar added a twin Mercury V10 400 hp option delivering 800 hp combined at 45 knots, freeing aft-deck space for water-toy stowage and wider bathing platforms. The GRP hull uses vacuum-infused stringers and a twin-stepped form that keeps fuel burn to approximately 4.1 l/nm at cruise. By mid-decade Axopar had delivered more than 7,500 boats through a 100-plus dealer network across more than 50 countries; the 37 was the most sold outboard-powered boat in the 35-40 ft segment in the United States in 2024. We'd put the 45 range alongside Nimbus and Princess at a price point that remains meaningfully competitive for the specification delivered.
