About limousines
Limousine tenders are judged on arrival quality as much as specification: sightlines, boarding height, noise, climate control, finish, and how the boat behaves alongside. This category combines current new-build options with pre-owned limousine tenders when available.
What is a limousine tender?
An enclosed, air-conditioned transport boat that moves owner and guests between yacht and shore in any weather, in formal dress, without spray reaching the hairline. It has a separate forward helm, glazed sides, full cabin headroom (typically 1.85 to 1.95m) and a dressed interior. There is no formal definition; the mainstream is 8.5 to 12 metres.
What is the difference between a limousine tender and an open tender?
A limousine is enclosed, climate-controlled and weatherproof with a dressed interior; an open tender is uncovered for fair-weather day use. A limo is heavier for its length, a 10m limo runs 3,500 to 4,500kg loaded against 2,500 to 3,200kg for an equivalent open boat, and harder to fit through a garage door because the cabin sets the height.
How much does a limousine tender cost?
Before transport, commissioning and finance: 8 to 9m semi-custom 700,000 to 1,200,000 EUR; 9 to 11m 1,200,000 to 2,200,000 EUR; 11 to 13m custom 2,200,000 to 4,000,000 EUR; 13m+ custom or limo-chase 4,000,000 EUR and up. Propulsion, interior finish allowance and the air-conditioning and AV fit-out move the headline most.
How many guests does a limousine tender carry?
A 9 to 11m limo seats 8 to 12 guests; a 12 to 14m boat seats 12 to 16. The capacity ceiling is usually SOLAS or coastal-certification driven, not space driven.
Who builds superyacht limousine tenders?
The segment is concentrated: Hodgdon Yachts (dominant custom above 10m), Pascoe International, Wajer (38S and 55S), Vikal, Compass Tenders, Tenderworks and Castoldi Jet. Most owners shortlist three or four builders and run a comparative spec exercise.
