New-boat coverage and market moves, rewritten on our terms.

What's in here

Curated coverage of new launches, refits, and category-defining product moves from the yards we work with. We pull from the press desks, then rewrite — the brochure copy goes; the trade-offs, the engineering rationale, and the implications for a captain or owner sourcing next stay.

What it isn't

Not a press-release reprint. If a yard issues an announcement worth covering, we add the context the press release leaves out — what changes for the owner, what the spec sheet implies for service, and where the trade is. Not a charter blog either; cruising itineraries belong elsewhere.

If you want the deep reference material, the guides library is the place. If you want to scan the lineup, head to the builders directory.

Why every 50m-plus superyacht now wants a chase boat

The chase boat has moved from curiosity to structural fixture on 50 metre-plus programmes. Here is the verified Wajer demand figure, the three structural drivers behind the shift, and what it means for a 2026 brief.

Monaco Yacht Show 2025: what the tender quay actually showed

The Monaco Yacht Show 2025 ran a record fleet, but the more useful read for owners and project managers was the tender quay, where nearly 60 boats and the TYKUN X chase boat debut showed where the auxiliary market is going. We also reconcile the fleet numbers the recaps disagree on.

The electric superyacht tender just crossed the line: Candela, Vita and a hydrogen flagship

For a decade the electric tender was a Monaco show novelty. Candela's capital, Vita-powered Hodgdon limousines and a hydrogen flagship say 2026 is the inflection. Here are the real specs, the range-versus-speed reality, and the owner's-side caveats the listicles skip.

BRABUS Shadow 38 Range Announced: 850 and 1000 XC Cross Cabin Models

BRABUS Marine has announced the Shadow 38 range, comprising two distinct 38-foot models: the Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin and the Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin. Both are developed on an evolved version of the Axopar 37 platform, with the top-specification 1000 variant rated at up to 1,000 hp. The range succeeds the Shadow 900 and 1000 series and was previewed at an exclusive media briefing in Mallorca ahead of a global debut later in 2026. For owners and captains selecting a high-performance day boat or superyacht tender, the Shadow 38 is the build where Finnish hull engineering and German powertrain ambition meet in a single, XC Cross Cabin body.

Axopar 38 Sun Top: Open Layout, Modular Cockpit, Social Platform

The Axopar 38 Sun Top is the second model to emerge from the all-new 38 range, following the 38 XC Cross Cabin that debuted at Boot Düsseldorf in early 2026. Where the Cross Cabin prioritises covered accommodation, the Sun Top strips the architecture back to a continuous open deck, removing the physical barriers between helm, cockpit, and aft. The result is a boat configured for group use afloat - suited to the superyacht context where a tender needs to carry people, not just move them. The sliding canvas roof addresses the perennial problem with open-format day boats: that they work well in settled weather and less well when conditions shift. With a cockpit that seats up to ten and foldable aft activity platforms, this is the 38 platform configured for social operation rather than solo passage-making.

TYKUN X: the defence-bred aluminium chase boat that debuted at Monaco 2025

MED Group used Monaco Yacht Show 2025 to debut the TYKUN X, a 10.5m aluminium chase boat with a defence-sector hull lineage. We set out the published specs, separate the military-hull marketing from what aluminium genuinely buys, and give the owner's-side read.

Wally 43 and the 43X: the inboard versus outboard decision, decoded

The Wally 43 is two boats on one hull: the inboard 43wallytender and the outboard 43X. We set out every published spec, handle the engine figures the press and Wally disagree on, and give the owner's-side read on the decision and the price Wally does not publish.

The Wajer 44 swaps IPS for Mercury V10 — what changes for owners

Wajer is adding twin Mercury V10 Verado outboards to the 44 S and 44 HT, alongside the existing Volvo Penta IPS pod option. The headline is US-market choice. The harder story is what the propulsion swap actually changes for the owner.

Axopar 37 leads the 35-40ft outboard segment in the US for a second consecutive year

The Axopar 37 is the build we see recommended most often when a superyacht programme needs a versatile, outboard-powered tender that can double as a capable chase boat without requiring a dedicated chase-boat budget. Axopar has now confirmed, via USCG registrations, state DMV data, and consolidated retail figures from Statistical Surveys Inc., that the 37 held the top sales position in the 35-40ft outboard segment across the United States in both 2024 and 2025. More than 3,000 units have been delivered worldwide since the model launched, with the owner base ranging from first-time buyers through to governmental operators and superyacht programmes.
