About this tender

Pascoe 8.6m - what we know.

The Pascoe 8.6m DT is the build we recommend when an owner's brief is a multi-role yacht tender that covers guest transit, watersports duty and crew shuttle on a single hull. Pascoe's DT range is laid out for exactly that mix of duties, and the 8.6m sits at a useful sweet spot, large enough to carry sixteen guests comfortably, small enough to fit a 50 to 60m yacht's typical tender garage.

Driveline is a single mid-engine inboard diesel with jet or sterndrive output, configured to owner preference. The mid-engine layout gives the right weight balance for safe craning and a meaningfully quieter helm than a stern-engine package. Fuel capacity is 250 litres, enough for a long working day at cruise, with a typical top end in the 30 to 35 knot band depending on engine choice. The half-tube collar is unchanged from the smaller DT variants.

We would put the 8.6m DT alongside the Castoldi Jet Tender 9.6, the Hodgdon Limousine 28 and the Compass Tenders X-Tender 9. Pascoe at this length earns its keep on finish quality and on the multi-role flexibility of the deck plan, where a single boat handles guest, crew and watersports duty without changing kit. From around 495,000 GBP Ex-VAT, lead time eight to twelve months.

Highlights

Built for the work.

The four details we'd point out first to a captain who hasn't seen one on the water yet.

01

Multi-role deck flexibility

The 8.6m DT is designed to switch between guest transit, watersports support and crew shuttle without reconfiguration. Walk-around side decks, generous freeboard, integrated boarding steps, and a flexible aft platform let the same hull cover the full range of yacht-tender duties through a typical season.

02

Sixteen-guest capacity

Sixteen guests is the rated maximum, with seating laid out for that load and the working freeboard to handle it in built-up Mediterranean conditions. That is a strong figure at this length and signals the boat's brief, primary guest tender for yachts where larger toy-rack space is at a premium.

03

Half-tube DT architecture

Same half-tube collar and internal solid bulwarks as the smaller DT variants. Spray protection without deck-space penalty, durable rub-strake against routine knocks against the mothership, and the elegant Pascoe DT silhouette that has become a signature of British superyacht tenders. Service life is unusually long for a tender at this length.

04

Pascoe finish at working length

Pascoe builds the 8.6m DT with the same finish discipline as the Limousine range, hand-laid teak, intricate upholstery stitching, custom hull colour. That finish is unusual at this length where most builders target a working-tender brief. For an owner who wants the working flexibility of a DT and the finish of a Limousine in one boat, the 8.6m is the right answer.

Questions, answered

Before you enquire.

DT 8.6m or Open Limousine 8.1m, which is right for a yacht?
DT 8.6m for a multi-role brief where the tender will carry watersports kit and guest groups in turn. Open Limousine 8.1m for a single-role flagship guest brief where presentation is the priority. The DT is the more practical primary tender, the Open Limousine is the more polished presentation tender. Many programmes specify both.
Jet or sterndrive on the 8.6m DT?
Jet for shallow-draft work, beachlanding and reduced manoeuvring at speed in a marina. Sterndrive for top-end performance, fuel economy and integration with the mothership's diesel system. Both are credible. Most owners specify sterndrive for primary guest duty and jet for multi-role programmes that need shore access.
Is 16 guests realistic in the deck plan?
Yes for transit duty (yacht to shore, shore to restaurant) at moderate speeds. For long lunches or sit-down meals with sixteen, plan for a larger boat. The 8.6m DT is the right size for a primary guest tender on a yacht where the day plan involves multiple short transfers rather than long cruises.
How does it compare to the Castoldi 9.6 jet tender?
Castoldi at this length leans on the sealed-jet drive and a long working pedigree. Pascoe leans on finish and the multi-role brief. For a yacht where presentation matters, Pascoe is usually the right answer. For a yacht where the tender works hard and guests come second, Castoldi's pedigree is harder to beat.

The yard

Pascoe

Southampton, UK

Pascoe International is a British semi-custom tender builder founded in 2004 and based on the River Hamble, Southampton. The yard positions itself as a pure-play specialist: every hull leaves the Hamble facility destined for service alongside a superyacht, with no retail or recreational diversion in the programme. The range covers the full working hierarchy of a modern superyacht fleet - enclosed Limousines, Open Guest Tenders, Chase Tenders, Beachlanders, SOLAS Rescue craft, wash-down workboats, and catamarans - which is why shipyards frequently list Pascoe as a standard-fit option rather than an owner-supply afterthought.

The build identity is composite throughout, with hulls engineered to proven naval architecture platforms. Every tender is customised in-house: design, composite construction, timber joinery, fabrication, engineering, and sea trials are all handled at the Hamble site. The 12.0m Open Sport is the yard's most recent step into the dedicated chase-tender segment, configured for owner programmes that need deep-sea fishing, diving, and watersport capacity without sacrificing guest transfer duties. The flagship 12.0m Limousine carries twenty-two guests plus two crew, with a hydraulically concealed aft boarding platform that recovers the full waterline when underway.

With over 270 hulls in active service, Pascoe has collected award recognition at the Superyacht Design Awards (2015, 9.60m SL Limousine) and the Boat International Design and Innovation Awards (2019, 8.0m Landau). We'd put the yard alongside the recognised Italian and Dutch tender builders on finish quality, with the added advantage of a fully vertically integrated UK facility and a direct line to the design team from first brief to handover.
