Wally 58X - what we know.
The wallypower58X is the build we ask Wally for when your programme needs a fast day-boat that can hold its own aesthetically alongside the mothership. It takes the wallypower58 platform - deep-V hull, glass and carbon dome hardtop, the signature flush-deck aesthetic - and re-engineers the transom for outboard power. Four Mercury V12 Verado 600hp units replace the inboard driveline, putting 2,400hp on the stern and a certified 50 knot top speed within reach of a twelve-person complement.
The shift to outboard propulsion is not simply a packaging choice. Wally cites a reduced running draft compared to the inboard model, which makes the 58X workable in shallow coastal anchorages where the standard 58 would be more cautious. The Mercury rotating gearcases and joystick system add precision docking capability that owners and captains will appreciate in busy marina berths or when coming alongside a swim platform in any kind of chop.
Removing the inboard engines frees meaningful volume below decks. The 58X retains the wallypower58's accommodation for one or two couples, and the aft section is recovered by folding bulwarks rather than being given over to engine servicing. The hydraulic passerelle, first introduced by Wally on the 48X, is built in as standard - a detail that matters when the boat is used as a daily tender or water-toy platform rather than purely as a fast passage-maker.
With 4,100 litres of fuel capacity and a cruising range of 320 nautical miles at 38 knots, the 58X sits in a credible position between a pure day-boat and a serious coastal cruiser. Wally quotes RINA Class B+F certification, which gives the classification substance a project manager needs when integrating the vessel into a flag-state compliant fleet.
