About this tender

Windy SR26 - what we know.

The SR 26 is the build we ask Windy Scandinavia for when a programme needs a proper open tender that earns its place in a tight garage. At 7.96m on the waterline and 2.3 tonnes lightship, it sits squarely in the bracket suited to 45 to 50 metre motor yachts - and the offset folding console, which drops stowage height to just 1.51m, was clearly drawn with that garage aperture in mind from the first line on the page.

Windy commissioned Eidsgaard Design for both exterior and interior, and naval architect Geir Arnestad to sign off the hull geometry. The result is a vacuum-resin-infused deep-V hull and deck with teak surfaces, Spradling cockpit cushions, and a portside sofa that converts between lounge and individual seating. Seven persons is the certified figure; the deck volume makes that feel measured rather than marginal.

Performance sits at 40 knots on the Yanmar 4LV 250Z single-engine fit, with a quoted range of 230 nm - enough for serious day cruises away from the mothership without replanning around the fuel dock. The removable bow section shortens overall length to 7.23m for loading, an arrangement that gives captains genuine options when the garage is borderline. One hundred and fifty hull colour choices and fifty upholstery options mean the finished boat can be matched closely to any livery programme.

Highlights

Built for the work.

The four details we'd point out first to a captain who hasn't seen one on the water yet.

01

Garage-optimised folding console

The offset folding helm console reduces stowage height to 1.51m, purpose-engineered for the side and stern garages typical of 45 to 50 metre motor yachts. A removable bow section also shortens overall length from 7.96m to 7.23m, giving captains practical flexibility when the aperture is tight.

02

Vacuum-resin-infused deep-V hull

Hull and deck are vacuum-resin-infused GRP, a construction method that controls resin content consistently and reduces finished weight. Naval architect Geir Arnestad led the hull geometry in collaboration with Windy's own design team. Teak is laid on deck and on the bathing platform.

03

230 nm quoted range

With a single Yanmar 4LV 250Z driving the boat to 40 knots at the top end, Windy quotes a 230 nm range - sufficient for extended day cruises independent of the mothership. Range is subject to load case, sea state, and hull condition, as Windy note in their own specification caveats.

04

150 hull colours, 50 upholstery options

The customisation programme is one of the broadest in this class. One hundred and fifty hull colour choices and fifty Spradling upholstery options allow the boat to be finished to match or complement the mothership's own livery, which matters when the tender is visible alongside or on deck.

05

Eidsgaard Design exterior and interior

London-based Eidsgaard Design handled both exterior styling and interior layout, giving the SR 26 a coherent design language across cockpit and hull. The portside sofa converts to two individual chair seats; a bow table with storage beneath keeps the forward area practical when at anchor.

Questions, answered

Before you enquire.

What size mothership is the SR 26 designed for?
Windy engineered the SR 26 specifically for the side and stern garages of 45 to 50 metre motor yachts. The offset folding console reduces stowage height to 1.51m, and the removable bow section shortens overall length to 7.23m, giving captains two independent tools to manage a tight garage aperture.
How fast does the SR 26 go, and what range does it offer?
Windy quotes a top speed of 40 knots and a range of 230 nm from the single Yanmar 4LV 250Z installation. Both figures are subject to load case, sea state, and hull condition as the manufacturer notes, so treat them as indicative rather than guaranteed under all operating conditions.
What hull construction method does the SR 26 use?
Hull and deck are built using vacuum-resin infusion on a deep-V form, a process that controls resin-to-glass ratios precisely and keeps finished weight consistent. The lightship figure is 2.3 tonnes. Naval architect Geir Arnestad collaborated with Windy's own design team on the hull geometry.
How many people does the SR 26 accommodate?
The layout comfortably accommodates up to seven persons according to Windy's own description. The cockpit includes a portside sofa that converts to two individual chair seats, a bow table with storage beneath, and a teak-laid bathing platform at the stern.
How extensive are the customisation options?
Windy offers one hundred and fifty hull colour choices and fifty upholstery options in Spradling fabric. The programme is designed specifically to allow the boat to be matched to the mother ship's livery, which is a practical requirement when the tender will be stowed on deck or alongside in plain sight.

Windy

Västervik, Sweden

Windy (Windy Scandinavia AB) is a Scandinavian builder founded in 1966 by Hugo Vold, originally on the Norwegian coast. Production today runs from facilities in Västervik on the east coast of Sweden and in Ostróda and Słupsk in Poland, with more than 170 people across the yards turning out hulls from 26 to 77 feet across two product lines: the Sport Series and the SR Series Chase Boats and Yacht Tenders.

The build that put Windy on the superyacht-tender map is the SR52 Blackbird, a 16.10m chase boat co-designed with Dubois Naval Architects and naval architect Hans Jørgen Johnsen. It debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2010 and was rated best chase boat in the world by Superyacht Magazine in 2015. Over 130 hulls have been built. The flagship today is the SLR/SR60, an 18.18m chase platform designed in collaboration with Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, running triple Volvo Penta IPS units to 43 knots with a range of 850 nautical miles at 25 knots.

We'd put Windy alongside the stronger Italian open-boat builders on hull stiffness and seakeeping, and ahead of most on design pedigree - the SR series has drawn collaborations with Dubois, McKeon, Espen Øino, and Studio Liaigre. The construction method across the SR range is vacuum-injection moulding with a Divinycell foam core: the result is a lighter, stiffer hull than a hand-laid equivalent, carried through into every walkaround deck and below-decks fit-out. If your programme needs a chase platform that can cover open passages and present credibly alongside a 60m-plus mothership, the SR52 or SLR/SR60 are the builds we ask Windy for.
