About this tender

Brabus Shadow 900 sun-top - what we know.

The BRABUS Shadow 900 Sun-Top Stealth Green Signature Edition is the build we ask BRABUS Marine for when an owner's programme calls for something that performs as hard as it looks. At 11.73m on a twin-stepped 20-degree V hull, it carries ten passengers at Category B offshore certification and twelve at Category C coastal, with a twin Mercury Racing 450R driveline delivering 900 hp and a published top speed in excess of 60 knots. That is not a brochure estimate padded for effect - it is the figure BRABUS Marine states against a hull they have been refining across the full Shadow 900 range.

The Sun-Top variant sits between the fully open Spyder and the enclosed XC Cross Cabin. It gives you the sliding sun-roof awning and a protected helm without boxing in the aft deck - a sensible middle position for Mediterranean programmes where the weather turns quickly. Dry weight is 4,300 kg in Sun-Top configuration, up from 4,100 kg on the Spyder, and that mass is kept in check by the twin-stepped hull geometry rather than outright length.

The Stealth Green Signature Edition adds a layer of bespoke finish to the standard Shadow 900 Sun-Top: exclusive matte black carbon throughout the dash, fender boxes, and optional LED roof bar; Stealth Green Signature graphics running across the bow; and the BRABUS Sunrise quilted upholstery interior. These are not stick-on details - the paint process involves hand-fairing and hand-polishing to a standard that holds up alongside coachbuilt vehicle work from the same Bottrop facility. For owners who want the boat to read as a coherent design object, the execution here is credible.

The front lounge includes a queen-size berth as standard, making this a genuine overnight capability at 11.73m - a useful attribute when the mothership is at anchor and the owner wants a night ashore. An optional aft-cabin package extends that to four berths. The equipment list is unusually long for a boat of this size, with the Mercury joystick piloting system, bow thruster, fixed anchor windlass, and Simrad glass-bridge helm all included as standard.

Highlights

Built for the work.

The four details we'd point out first to a captain who hasn't seen one on the water yet.

01

Twin Mercury Racing 450R outboards

Both engines are Mercury Marine 450R 4.6-litre V8 four-stroke units, each rated at 450 hp, giving a combined 900 hp. BRABUS Marine publishes a top speed in excess of 60 knots from a 4,300 kg platform - a figure consistent with the stepped V-hull geometry that underpins the entire Shadow 900 range.

02

Twin-stepped 20-degree V hull

The hull design is described as a twin stepped 20-degree V with sharp entry. Stepped hulls at this deadrise angle reduce wetted surface at speed, which is how BRABUS Marine extracts 60-plus knots from a 4.3-tonne boat on two outboards rather than three.

03

CE Category B offshore certification

The Shadow 900 carries dual classification: Category B offshore for ten passengers and Category C coastal for twelve. That Category B ticket means the boat is certified for sea states up to Beaufort 8 and significant wave heights to 4 metres, which matters to any owner running a serious offshore programme.

04

Overnight capability at 11.73m

A queen-size berth is fitted as standard in the front lounge. The optional aft-cabin package adds a second queen-size bunk, bringing total berth capacity to four persons. At this length, that is a meaningful cruising range extension rather than a marketing footnote.

05

Matte black carbon Signature Edition finish

The Stealth Green Signature Edition introduces exclusive matte black carbon across the dashboard panels, fender boxes, and optional LED roof light bar - a first for the Shadow 900 range. The paintwork is produced through a labour-intensive hand-fairing, painting, and polishing process consistent with BRABUS automotive coachbuilt standards.

Questions, answered

Before you enquire.

What is the certified passenger capacity of the BRABUS Shadow 900 Sun-Top?
BRABUS Marine publishes ten passengers at CE Category B offshore and twelve passengers at CE Category C coastal. The dual classification means the boat can operate in more exposed conditions with a smaller group aboard, which suits owners running mixed inshore and offshore programmes from the same vessel.
How does the Sun-Top differ from the Spyder and XC Cross Cabin variants?
The Spyder is a fully open configuration. The Sun-Top adds an electrically operated sliding sun-roof awning and a protected helm, keeping the aft deck open. The XC Cross Cabin is a fully enclosed cabin cruiser. All three share the same hull, driveline, and 11.73m length. The Sun-Top dry weight is 4,300 kg versus 4,100 kg for the Spyder.
What does the Stealth Green Signature Edition add over a standard Shadow 900 Sun-Top?
The Signature Edition introduces the exclusive Stealth Green yacht paint with Signature Style bow graphics, matte black carbon across the dashboard panels and fender boxes, optional matte black carbon LED roof light bar, optional matte black carbon sports seat backrests, and the Stealth Green Masterpiece and Sign of Excellence badges. The BRABUS Sunrise upholstery scheme is also specific to this edition.
Can the BRABUS Shadow 900 Sun-Top accommodate overnight guests?
Yes. A queen-size berth is standard in the front lounge for two persons. The optional aft-cabin accommodation package adds a second queen-size bunk, bringing total sleeping capacity to four. The fresh water system (80 litres), electric toilet, and optional warm water and air-conditioning complete a workable overnight specification at 11.73m.
What navigation and connectivity equipment is fitted as standard?
Standard equipment includes a Simrad dual-touch full-HD glass bridge with two 12-inch screens, the BRABUS user interface with integrated digital Panerai timepiece, engine management, navigation controls, and entertainment. The extended navigation package adds two further 9-inch screens, a Simrad Halo20+ radar, VHF with AIS receiver, and a 4G mobile WiFi router.
Is a Mercury joystick docking system included as standard?
Yes. The Mercury joystick piloting helm control system, including Skyhook digital anchor hold and autopilot functions, is listed as standard equipment on the Shadow 900 Sun-Top. The Side-Power SE60 bow thruster is also standard, giving full joystick manoeuvring capability without additional cost.

Brabus

Bottrop, Germany

Brabus is a German high-performance tuning and manufacturing company founded in 1977 in Bottrop, in the Ruhr region of Germany. The name is drawn from the opening letters of the two founders' surnames: Brackmann and Buschmann. The automotive business, built on bespoke Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and Smart modifications, underpins everything Brabus brings to the water. Brabus Marine is the result of a collaboration launched in 2019 with Finnish builder Axopar Boats, and the pairing is direct: Axopar supplies the hull engineering; Brabus layers on the performance calibration, in-house carbon fibre parts manufactured at the Bottrop headquarters, fine leather interiors, and the signature dark-on-dark exterior graphics.

The Shadow range spans four size bands from 25 to 45 feet. The Shadow 300 covers the compact tender role at roughly 7.6m. The Shadow 500 and Shadow 900 - at approximately 9m and 11.7m respectively - sit at the centre of the superyacht chase-boat market; the 900 runs twin 450R Mercury Verado V8 FourStrokes producing 900 hp combined, with a quoted top speed of 55 knots and typical cruising around 40 knots. The current flagship, the Shadow 1200, stretches to 45 feet and draws 1,200 hp from triple Mercury Racing V10 outboards, reaching the same 55-knot ceiling in a larger, cabin-equipped platform. All models are hand-built with in-house carbon detailing. We'd put the Shadow 900 and 1000 series alongside the strongest outboard-powered options in the chase segment; the 1200 addresses owners who want a standalone cruising capability alongside the speed.
