Monaco Yacht Show 2025: what the tender quay actually showed

Editorial team16 May 2026Reported on Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show 2025 ran a record fleet, but the more useful read for owners and project managers was the tender quay, where nearly 60 boats and the TYKUN X chase boat debut showed where the auxiliary market is going. We also reconcile the fleet numbers the recaps disagree on.

The Monaco Yacht Show ran 24 to 27 September 2025 in Port Hercule. The headline is the superyachts. The more useful signal for anyone specifying an auxiliary fleet was 200 metres away, on the tender quay.

Reconciling the numbers (so you can trust the rest)

The recaps do not agree, and we would rather flag that than print one number as gospel. The official site and superyachts.news cite 120 superyachts; YachtBuyer reports 115 superyachts and a fleet worth around 2.9 billion US dollars at opening. Monaco did not publish an official 2025 fleet valuation; the 4.5 billion euro figure that circulates is the 2024 comparator, not a 2025 number. So: take the fleet as roughly 115 to 120 yachts, and treat any single fleet-value figure as one outlet's estimate, not an official total. That kind of honesty is exactly what the owner's-side read is for.

The tender and chase-boat quay

Nearly 60 high-end tenders lined the Jarlan and Quai Antoine Ier quays in the show's Adventure Area, presented as extensions of their motherships rather than afterthoughts, alongside submersibles and exploration equipment. Two patterns stood out.

Versatility is now the brief. The boats drawing crowds were not single-purpose day tenders. They were limousine tenders that convert, beach landers with serious range, and chase boats specified to do fishing, diving and guest movement on one hull. The market is buying flexibility, which is the fleet-composition question we walk in the tender fleet planning guide.

The chase boat has its own quay presence. Dedicated chase platforms, not adapted day boats, were on the floor in numbers, including defence-derived aluminium hulls. That confirms a structural shift rather than a fashion: the chase boat is now a category builders design for from a clean sheet.

The standout: MED Group TYKUN X

The concrete, spec-backed debut on the quay was the MED Group TYKUN X at stand QA34: a 10.5 m aluminium chase boat designed by Tommaso Spadolini, 50 plus knots, with a hull derived from MED Group's NATO-qualified defence division, per Megayacht News. It sat in the middle of a three-boat range (8.5, 10.5 and 12.5 m). We cover it in full in our TYKUN X report. Beyond the TYKUN X, this report does not list other named tender world premieres because we could not verify their specs against a primary source, and a guessed list helps no one.

What it means for a brief

Three takeaways for owners and project managers planning a 2026 or 2027 programme:

  1. Specify the fleet, not the boat. The floor rewarded owners who had fixed the SOLAS plus limousine plus chase mix before walking the quay. See tender fleet planning by yacht size.
  2. Lead times have not eased. The premium builders were quoting the same long slots; Monaco did not change the order-book reality.
  3. Compare on the numbers, not the stand. A stand sells finish. The decision is loaded weight, recovery sea state and range. Put the boats you liked into the comparison tool and the picture changes.

The read

Monaco 2025 confirmed the auxiliary market is maturing toward versatile, purpose-built tenders and chase boats, with the chase platform now a fixture rather than a curiosity. The builders we rate are in the best superyacht tenders; the tenders and chase boats registers carry what is actually available. Tell us the programme and we will build the fleet brief from the owner's side.
